Does God appear as an Infant?

Does God appear as an Infant?

Is it true that God can appear on this earth as an infant? Do the Vedas support this statement?

The question of whether God can manifest as an infant is a valid question. While many religious traditions hold the belief that God is formless, the fact is that the Supreme God has a physical form and can even appear as an infant. The Vedas provide direct evidence that supports this notion. Specifically, Rigveda Mandal 9, Sukt 96, Mantra 17 describes the Supreme God appearing as an infant and imparting divine knowledge through poetic verses. This aligns with historical accounts of God Kabir, who was found as a newborn on a lotus flower in Lahartara pond. Let us explore the Vedic evidence and its connection to God Kabir.

Vedic Evidence: Rigveda Mandal 9, Sukt 96, Mantra 17

Original Sanskrit Verse:

शिशुम् । जज्ञानम् । हर्यन्तम् । मृजन्ति । शुम्भन्ति । वह्निम् । मरुतः । गणेन । कविः । गीःऽभिः । काव्येन । कविः । सन् । सोमः । पवित्रम् । अति । एति । रेभन् ॥

Meaning & Explanation:

  • (शिशुम् जज्ञानम् हर्यन्तम्) – The Supreme God purposefully manifests in an infant form to impart true spiritual knowledge (Tattvagyan).
  • (मरुतः गणेन) – Upon hearing this divine wisdom, a vast group of devotees becomes followers of that Supreme God.
  • (मृजन्ति शुम्यन्ति वह्निम्) – Intellectuals recognize this knowledge and praise and worship Him.
  • (काव्येन) – The Supreme God conveys Tattvagyan through poetry, in the form of couplets, sayings, hymns, and verses.
  • (कविः गीःऽभिः) – He reveals this knowledge through Kabir Vani (the divine speech of Kabir Sahib).
  • (पवित्रम् अतिरेभन्) – He loudly proclaims this pure knowledge in a resounding voice.
  • (कविः सन्) – He appears as a poet-saint.
  • (सोमः) – He is immortal and self-existent.

This mantra clearly describes the Supreme God taking birth as an infant, giving knowledge through poetry, and being immortal—attributes that match Kabir Saheb’s divine incarnation.

Additional Vedic Evidence: Rigveda Mandal 9, Sukt 1, Mantra 9

Original Sanskrit Verse:

अभि । इमम् । अघ्न्याः । उत । श्रीणन्ति । धेनवः । शिशुम् । सोमम् । इन्द्राय । पातवे ॥

Meaning & Explanation:

  • (अघ्न्याः धेनवः) – Maiden cows nourish the Supreme God.
  • (शिशुम् सोमम्) – That Supreme God appears as an infant.
  • (इन्द्राय पातवे) – He descends for the benefit of devotees seeking divine knowledge.

This mantra further confirms that the Supreme God takes birth as an infant and is nourished by maiden cows.

Historical Alignment with Kabir Saheb’s Incarnation

The descriptions in the Rigveda perfectly align with the historical appearance of God Kabir in 1398 CE:

  1. Kabir Saheb appeared as an infant on a lotus flower in Lahartara pond, Varanasi.
  2. He was raised by Neeru and Neema, and just as the Vedas describe maiden cows nurturing the divine infant, Kabir Saheb was nourished by milk from maiden cows.
  3. He imparted true knowledge (Tattvagyan) in poetic form—the Kabir Vani, which includes dohas (couplets), shabads (hymns), and shlokas (verses).
  4. He revealed the true path of salvation and exposed false religious practices, just as the Vedas describe the Supreme God doing.

Conclusion: The Supreme God Appears as an Infant

From the Rigveda, and historical evidence, it is evident that:

  • The Supreme God has appeared on Earth as an infant.
  • He imparts true knowledge through poetry and reveals the path of salvation.
  • Kabir Saheb’s life matches the descriptions found in the Vedas.

Thus, the Vedas fully support the fact that the Supreme God can and has appeared on Earth as an infant, and that Supreme God is Kabir Saheb.
